D-AIXL is part of Lufthansa’s modern long-haul fleet. Developed by Airbus, the A350-900 is described as one of the world’s most advanced wide-body airliners, using extensive composite materials, state-of-the-art aerodynamics, and fuel-efficient Rolls-Royce Trent XWB engines. These features enable long-haul operation with lower fuel consumption and emissions, alongside a quieter, more comfortable passenger cabin.
The “100 Years” markings commemorate a century of Lufthansa aviation heritage, with the airline’s origins dating back to 1926. D-AIXL has operated from Lufthansa’s Munich and Frankfurt hubs to destinations across North America, Asia, and beyond. The A350-900 has become a cornerstone of the airline’s intercontinental fleet, replacing older aircraft while improving operational efficiency and reducing environmental impact. Its long range, advanced technology, and reliability support Lufthansa’s global route network; the anniversary livery celebrates the airline’s history and continued evolution in commercial aviation.
