HISTORY ASPECTS: The Boeing 747-100B registered EP-IAM was a flagship long-range aircraft operated by Iran Air and remains one of the most historically significant early “jumbo jet” airframes still associated with civilian service. The Boeing 747-100 family was designed to revolutionize long-haul air travel, and the -100B variant offered strengthened landing gear, increased fuel capacity, and improved range compared to the original -100 series. EP-IAM was delivered new in the late 1970s and became one of the most recognizable wide-body aircraft in Iran’s long-haul fleet. Throughout its operational career, EP-IAM served on major international routes connecting Iran with Europe and Asia, operating during a complex geopolitical era that shaped global aviation access and fleet utilization. The aircraft was part of Iran Air’s wide-body long-haul network alongside other Boeing types such as the 747SP and 747-200 variants, supporting both passenger demand and national flag carrier operations. Due to its long range and high capacity, the 747-100B was especially important for intercontinental flights where stopovers were less desirable for commercial and diplomatic travel. As aviation technology advanced and newer, more efficient wide-body aircraft entered service, EP-IAM gradually transitioned away from regular long-haul operations. It ultimately became known as one of the last flying examples of the early 747-100 generation, highlighting both its durability and the challenges of maintaining older aircraft in long-term service. The type itself marked a turning point in aviation history, enabling mass intercontinental travel and reshaping global connectivity. This 1:400 scale model is a remarkable tribute to one of the most iconic early jumbo jets ever built. Featuring authentic Iran Air livery and the classic upper-deck hump of the original 747 design, it captures the pioneering spirit of wide-body aviation. Perfect for collectors of historic airliners, this replica honors a legendary aircraft that helped define modern global air travel; add it to your collection today for a timeless and historically significant centerpiece.
