This brand-new Hobby Master 1:72 diecast model depicts Douglas A-20G Havoc 42-86786, “Hell'N Pelican II,” of the United States Army Air Forces 388th Bomb Squadron at Gusap Airfield in 1944. It is part of the “Air Power Series” and comes in the manufacturer's original unopened packaging as an officially licensed product.
The model has diecast metal and plastic construction, a detailed exterior, true-to-scale detail, realistic panel lines, antennas, access panels and surface details. Features include an opening canopy, a pilot figure and a display stand. Approximate dimensions: 8 inches long with a 10.25-inch wingspan.
The A-20G Havoc was optimized for low-level attack, with a solid nose packed with forward-firing machine guns. Operating from Gusap in New Guinea, aircraft of the 388th Bomb Squadron flew hazardous missions against Japanese supply lines, troop concentrations and coastal shipping during the Southwest Pacific campaign.
With its distinctive nose art and battle-worn character, this model represents a frontline Pacific War attack aircraft and is suited to World War II aviation and military history collections.
