HISTORY ASPECTS: The General Dynamics F-16C Fighting Falcon has served as one of the most versatile and widely deployed multirole fighters in U.S. Air Force history. Designed for agility, advanced avionics integration, and precision strike capability, the F-16C evolved from a lightweight air superiority fighter into a highly capable platform able to conduct air defense, close air support, suppression of enemy air defenses, and precision strike missions. Aircraft 88-0545 later became associated with the Oklahoma Air National Guard’s 138th Fighter Wing, carrying the special “Spirit of Broken Arrow” markings that celebrate both community ties and operational excellence. Based at Tulsa International Airport and representing the state of Oklahoma, the 138th Fighter Wing of the Oklahoma Air National Guard has operated F-16C aircraft in both homeland defense and overseas contingency roles. Under the Air National Guard structure, the wing supports North American Aerospace Defense Command (NORAD) alert missions while also deploying in support of U.S. Central Command and other theaters. The “Spirit of Broken Arrow” livery reflects pride in the city of Broken Arrow and the close relationship between the unit and its local community, while maintaining full combat readiness within the U.S. Air Force framework. The F-16C variant has seen extensive combat across multiple conflicts, including Operations Desert Storm, Allied Force, Enduring Freedom, Iraqi Freedom, and later counter-ISIS operations. Oklahoma ANG F-16 units have deployed in support of operations in the Middle East, flying combat air patrols, close air support missions, and precision strike sorties. Aircraft such as 88-0545 represent a lineage of combat-proven fighters that transitioned seamlessly between domestic air defense responsibilities and expeditionary warfare. By 2024, the aircraft symbolized decades of operational experience, technological evolution, and sustained readiness in both peacetime and combat environments. This 1:72 scale model beautifully captures the distinctive commemorative markings of 88-0545 while honoring the combat legacy and dual-role mission of the Oklahoma Air National Guard, making it an outstanding addition to any modern U.S. fighter collection.
