The Polikarpov I-16 Type 10, piloted by the 5-Victory Ace Luo Ying Te of the Republic of China (Taiwan) Air Force, holds a remarkable place in history for its service during the Sino-Japanese War. This conflict, which raged from 1937 to 1945, was a critical theater of World War II, with the Republic of China fighting against the Japanese Empire's expansionist ambitions in Asia.
The I-16, known as the 'Rata' to the Soviets and 'Mosca' to the Spanish Republicans, was one of the world's first low-wing cantilever monoplanes with retractable landing gear. Its agility and speed made it a formidable opponent in dogfights against Japanese aircraft. In the hands of aces like Luo Ying Te, the I-16 played a vital role in defending Chinese airspace and striking back at Japanese forces.
Now, you can own a meticulously crafted 1:72 scale diecast model airplane, paying tribute to the resilience of the Republic of China Air Force during the Sino-Japanese War. Display it with pride and honor the legacy of those who defended their homeland against overwhelming odds.
