This limited-edition Dragon Models 1/72 plastic model depicts the United States M103A2 Heavy Tank D12 in olive drab. It has detailed, true-to-scale exterior molding and a rotating turret for display. The model has no openings and comes in a plastic display showcase for protection. It is supplied in a brand-new box in the manufacturer's original unopened packaging.
The model measures approximately 3.75 inches long (5.75 inches with the cannon), 2 inches wide and 2.125 inches high. Its pad-printed markings and placards are described as resisting fading or peeling like decals; the model is also described as having accurate decals. The protective display case helps keep the model in pristine condition.
The M103A2 was designed in the early 1950s to counter Soviet heavy tanks and entered service in 1957, primarily during the Cold War. It had a 120mm main gun and heavy armor. The D12 variant featured Reliability Improved Selected Equipment (RISE) upgrades, including a more reliable engine and transmission, and an IR/white light spotlight for improved nighttime visibility. Although the M103A2 did not see combat during its service, it was used in military exercises and deployments in Europe and Korea. The spotlight adds detail to this highly detailed model for military history and model-collection displays.
